Recent studies have shown the continual increase in the number of online course offerings year by year
within higher education, including the recent introduction of MOOCs. While technology has influenced
the way in which education to adults is being delivered, how to teach within a web-based format also
requires a new paradigm shift in the pedagogy (or andragogy) of the teacher. This workshop will discuss
the basic learning theories which underlie current best practices and methods of online teaching with
examples, showing why and how you should use them in order to develop a successful faculty training
program.
