After seeing his wife transfer from community college to UC Berkeley, Brian realized that he also could go back to school. Overcoming his hesitations, he found a supportive community at Laney College, where he became actively involved in student leadership. After serving as Student Body President at Laney, he became the Student Trustee on the Peralta Colleges Board of Trustees, representing the aspirations and struggles of students at all of our four colleges. The Peralta Colleges Foundation Chancellor's Trophy scholarship is helping him pursue his dream of becoming a high school history teacher.
