Nearly 550 people attended the 38th Annual Americana Awards — where alumnus and Man of the Year Trevor Hoffman spoke glowingly about his time at Cypress College and, specifically, about the role of head baseball Coach Scott Pickler in helping his pursuit of a baseball career continue after his time with the Chargers. Hoffman won the Branch Rickey Award for his humanitarian efforts. The Americana Awards were held at the Disneyland Hotel on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
