Illustrations are examples of past performance of investments. Let's look at some bond illustrations and see how bonds can build wealth for us over time. The results of bonds are almost never eye-popping but the volatility is much less than their stock counterparts. (We will take a look at stock returns and stock volatility in chapter 12. The returns are higher with stocks but so is the volatility.)
